Configurar reenviadores DNS para resolución externa en Windows Server 2008 R2

Unos de los errores más graves que se comenten en redes empresariales es la 8.2utilización de DNS externos en configuración de equipos clientes internos cuando se encuentran en un dominio.

Recordemos que para el correcto funcionamiento del Directorio Activo, y la autenticación de los clientes es necesarios que estos lleven en su configuración de interface una dirección de IP de DNS interna ya sea de Windows Server o BIND 8.2.X o superior.

Entonces que pasa con las resoluciones externas para que los usuarios internos puedan navegar a sitios de Internet? Pues aquí es donde empezamos a trabajar con nuestro servidor de DNS Interno.

Veremos en este sencillo ejemplo como configurar reenviadores a los DNS de nuestro proveedor de Internet.

Inicialmente debemos ingresar a la consola de DNS del Servidor donde se encuentre instalado el Servicio. En Windows Server 2008 R2 puede buscar DNS e Ingresar a la Consola

Recibe el Error Event ID 5586, Cannot generate SSPI context

Muchos administradores IT que utilizan Sharepoint como gestor de contenido, ya sea Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 u Office Sharepoint Server 2007 pueden llegar a sufrir este error.

Basicamente el Sharepoint no puede lograr conectarse a la base de contenido. Una vez reiniciado el Servidor de SQL vuelven a tener conectividad a la bases. Lo mismo ocurre si quieren ingresar al Sitio de Administración de Sharepoint.

Al intentar ingresar al sitio de Administración Sharepoint Recibe el error:

No se puede conectar a la base de datos de configuración o en Ingles: Cannot connect to the configuration database.

Windows 7 "God Mode", revealed

A new "feature" in Windows 7 has been revealed today, by Ina Fried over at CNET. Being dubbed "god mode", the "feature" is actually pretty handy for power users. The hack allows you to pull all of your PC’s control panels into one standard class view folder.
Here’s how to enable this hack:
Create a folder in Windows 7
Re-name the folder to this exact string "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"
And there you have it, a folder with all of your control panels for your PC. Check it out:

La importancia de completar los Datos de un Objeto en el Directorio Activo.

El Directorio Activo no solo sirve para autenticar Usuarios y Equipos en un Dominio, si no también tiene muchas aplicaciones, como vimos en un artículo anterior, podemos aplicar políticas de grupo y de seguridad. En este pequeño artículo quiero dejarles al descubierto la importancia de completar o rellenar los Metadatos de un Objeto del Directorio Activo.

Algunos usuarios de Exchange en cualquiera de sus versiones posteriores a 2000, se habrán dado cuenta que los usuarios de correo Internos tienen propiedades como Telefono, Dirección, etc, estos Datos son proveídos enteramente de manera nativa por el Directorio Activo.

Para ver los medatados más relevantes, quiero ingresar la consola de “Usuarios y Equipos de Directorio Activo”.

Al contar con Exchange Server dentro de una organización el medatado de Correo electrónico es llenado de manera automática por el Sistema, como muestra la captura de pantalla más abajo:

Si bien es cierto podemos completar otros metadatos como, la oficina del Usuario, si este tuviera una Página Web personal, en caso de Office Sharepoint Server, los sitios personales (llamados My Site) figurarían de forma automática, en la pestaña Dirección pueden completarse otro tipos de Información.

GSM encryption cracked, code available on BitTorrent

It was recently reported that a German computer engineer outlined his plans to to crack GSM encryption and make his results public. Well now, he’s actually done it. The New York Times is reporting that Karsten Nohl has cracked and published the "secret" code used by 3.5 billion of the 4.3 billion wireless connections across the world. The code was developed in 1988 and is used to encrypt 80% of worldwide mobile calls. It is now publicly available via BitTorrent, leaving GSM calls vulnerable to eavesdropping.
It’s important to mention that the A5/1 algorithm that was cracked is the older, and less secure, 64-bit version. A newer, 128-bit A5/3 algorithm, which has been available since 2007, is still un-touched, but unfortunately, GSM carriers have been hesitant in spending the money to adopt the latest standard. Nohl feels that by releasing the code to the public, it will force GSM carriers to finally adopt the newer, more secure, 128-bit encryption. "We are not recommending people use this information to break the law. What we are doing is trying to goad the world’s wireless operators to use better security."
